The structure of crankshaft is different from that of general shafts. Crankshaft is composed of main journal, connecting rod journal, connecting plate between main journal and connecting rod journal. What is the crankshaft material generally used ?

 

 

When the crankshaft is working, it must bear relatively large torque and alternating bending stress, which is prone to torsional vibration, fracture and journal wear. Therefore, the crankshaft material should have relatively high strength, good impact toughness and fatigue. Strength, but also good wear resistance.

 

 

The commonly used materials for crankshafts are usually 35, 40, 45 steel or ductile iron QT600-2. For high-speed and heavy-duty crankshafts, materials such as 40Cr and 35CrMoAl can also be used.

 

 

The crankshaft needs to be made of very high-quality materials and undergo strict surface treatment processes. The commonly used crankshaft materials mainly include forged steel and ductile iron. Generally, medium carbon steel and medium carbon alloy steel such as 45, 40Cr, and 35Mn2 are used for forging, and in recent years, ductile iron has also been widely used. The grades of ductile iron crankshafts include QT600-3, QT700-2, QT800-2, QT900-2, and QT900-5.
